2 Chronicles 21:4–6 (ESV): “4 When Jehoram had ascended the throne of his father and was established, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel. 5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.”
When evil people are put in places of authority, they do unthinkable things. They will most certainly lead the people away from God. The moral of the story is: DON’T VOTE FOR EVIL PEOPLE!
After Jehoshaphat died, his son Jehoram ascended the throne in Judah. He was married to the daughter of Ahab and walked in the wicked ways of Ahab. He not only killed all his brothers and some of the princes of Israel, but he also led the people of Judah into idolatry and whoredom. The people of Edom wouldn’t tolerate it, so they revolted and set up a king for themselves. The Lord judged Jehoram by bringing the Philistines against him and afflicting him with an incurable bowel disease. He died in great agony.
Who are you voting for? You are fortunate to have a say in who rules in our nation. We live in a constitutional republic, which means, “We the People” rule. There is no perfect candidate, so we must vote for the one who will lead us closer to God. You have a responsibility to be involved, my friend. No choice is still a choice. Pray, seek God, and ask Him to give you wisdom to choose the right candidate. He most certainly will. His will be done, amen?
Father, protect us from evil, not only in our hearts but also in our country. Lead Your people, we pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
