Genesis 3:1–5

There is power and freedom found on every page of the Bible

Genesis 3:1–5 (ESV): Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

There is power and freedom found on every page of the Bible. No wonder there is such an affront on the Word of God in our culture today.  The enemy has been at work since day one attempting to diminish the truth of Gods Word.  Don’t fall for it, trust His Word over any thought or feeling you might have!

God told Adam that he could eat of the fruit of any tree in the Garden except the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2:15-17).  It was forbidden.   The serpent who is the Devil, the great deceiver, knew this and waited patiently for the right moment to strike.  When he  found them by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he began to sow seeds of doubt regarding Gods goodness.  “Did God really say?  You won’t die if you eat, you will become like God”.   Adam and Eve gave in to the temptation and ate of the forbidden fruit, enter sin and death.   The entire world changed in an instant.  Sin was now the task master and death the destination for all.   God immediate made a promise for redemption!  He would send His Son to pay the price for our sin and conquer death.

The enemy is not unique folks he is just faithful.  He tempts us over and over in areas where God has forbidden us to dabble.  His attack is the same, “Did God really say?”   We must know the Word and trust it beyond everything else.  It is where power and freedom are found.  If you are struggling today, look to the author of life.  He has prescribed a way of freedom for us!  Stop believing the lie and look to the truth found in Gods Word.   For man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.  Believe it and received it today!

Father we thank You that we have sixty-six love letters from You describing who You are and what You have done for us.   Thank You for giving us a manuscript for life.   Protect us from the deceit of the enemy.   Keep our hearts free from doubt and our minds sharp with Your Word so we can refute the lies of the enemy.  Your Word is truth, sanctify us in it we pray in Jesus name, amen!
