Leviticus 22:2-3

Leviticus 22:2–3 (ESV): “2 “Speak to Aaron and his sons so that they abstain from the holy things of the people of Israel, which they dedicate to me, so that they do not profane my holy name: I am the Lord. 3 Say to them, ‘If any one of all your offspring throughout your generations approaches the holy things that the people of Israel dedicate to the Lord, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from my presence: I am the Lord.”

No one is righteous, no not one (Rom 3:9), and yet God makes a way for us to be clean so that we can approach Him.   He is in the business of washing sins away not condemning people to Hell. He has made a way for us to be clean forever and ever, through His own Son.  Be washed and forgiven and you will not be cut off from His presence.

God instructs Moses relating to the uncleanness of the people and the priests.  All kinds of things would make a person unclean in the Old Covenant.  God foreseeing this made a way for all people to become clean.  The remedies varied depending on the type of uncleanness but they would all ultimately point to Jesus.   He is our cleansing from all uncleanness. God has provided a sufficient means of being washed clean through His Son.  Anyone who refuses will remain unclean and thus cut off.

Did you know that God made Him who knew no sin to became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21)?  Jesus is ours means of cleansing.  He washes us eternally justifying us before the Father (Rom 5:1), as well as relationally when we confess our sins to Him (1 Jn 1:9).   Those who refuse the washing of Christ will be cut off from the presence of God. The choice is yours. Come to the Son, King Jesus, and be washed.  Amen?

Father, wash us, cleanse us, forgive us for the sins that so easily entangle us.  We thank You for providing a way of cleansing through Your Son.  Have Your way in us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
