Mark 8:18-20

Mark 8:18-20: “18 Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They said to him, “Twelve.” 20 “And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” And they said to him, “Seven.” 21 And he said to them, “Do you not yet understand?””

Jesus is the source we need for whatever we lack. We simply need to come to Him and depend on Him to provide. He has unlimited resources and will faithfully supply every need according to His perfect will.

Jesus went throughout Galilee ministering to people. He faced constant criticism from the religious leaders, who honored their traditions above God’s commands. Yet their legalism did not stop Him from healing the sick, casting out demons—including the daughter of the Syrophoenician woman—and restoring the hearing of a deaf man. The disciples witnessed these miracles firsthand, yet when they encountered the four thousand whom Jesus desired to feed, they still could not imagine how it could be done with only seven loaves and a few fish. Jesus graciously reminded them of the miracles they had already witnessed because they still failed to understand that He is the source of all they needed.

Are you still without understanding regarding the omnipotent power of Jesus in your life? He is the source of all we need and is full of compassion for His people. Stop looking at your circumstances and look to Jesus Christ. Trust Him to be your sufficiency. He will guide you, strengthen you, and provide everything you need according to His perfect wisdom and grace. Come to Jesus today and rest in the One who is more than enough.

Father, give us the understanding to know that in Christ we lack nothing we truly need. Help us to trust You rather than our own resources or understanding. You are our source, and with You all things are possible. Teach us to look to Christ alone, knowing that You will faithfully provide according to Your perfect will. We ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
