Mark 8:27-30

Mark 8:27-30: “And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” 28 And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” 29 And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” 30 And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.”

Everything in life comes back to two things: learning and timing. Jesus demonstrates both with His disciples. Over time they came to understand His true identity, but it was not yet time for them to share it. His mission had not yet reached the cross or the empty tomb. That time, however, has passed. Once we have come to know who Jesus truly is, we are called to proclaim Him freely and boldly.

When Jesus and His disciples were on their way to Caesarea Philippi, He asked them, “Who do people say that I am?” Their answers varied: “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” Then Jesus asked the more important question: “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” Jesus then instructed them not to tell anyone about Him because it was not yet the appointed time.

What have you learned about Jesus during your walk with Him? As you have grown in your relationship with Christ, He has revealed Himself to you in countless ways. Those truths are worth sharing. The time is now, Christian. We do not know how much time remains to tell the world who Jesus is. People need to hear that He is the Christ, the Savior of the world. And you have a personal testimony of His power to transform lives. So go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is Lord!

Father, thank You for revealing Your Son to us. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Give us boldness to proclaim His greatness so that many, in Your perfect time, will come to know His saving grace, repent of their sins, and bow their knees before Him. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
