Matthew 28:5-7

Matthew 28:5-7 (ESV):But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.””

When God says something will happen, you can count on it happening, no matter how unbelievable it may seem. The Resurrection is one such event. Who rises from the dead? Jesus Christ does, just as He said He would!

After Jesus was crucified, a man named Joseph from Arimathea came to Pilate and asked for His body so he could bury it. Jesus was then laid in a new tomb, and the entrance was sealed with a stone. The religious leaders feared that the disciples might come and steal the body, so they asked Pilate to post guards at the tomb. But on the third day, early in the morning, some women came to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body. He was not there, for He had risen, just as He said He would.

How do you respond to the words of Jesus? Do you trust that they will come to pass? He is the Word of God made flesh, and what He says will surely come to pass. Resurrection is impossible for mere humans, but it is light work for the God who created life. If He can speak the world into existence, then He can certainly raise the dead. Trust His Word, Christian, for it will come to pass just as He said it would.

Father, we thank You for the Resurrection of Jesus. It is the linchpin of the Gospel. Teach us to trust Your Word and to take it at face value. Give us faith, and help us walk in obedience. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
