1 Samuel 17:26 (ESV): 26 And David said to the men who stood by him, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
God is the undefeated champion of the universe. Who can stand against Him? Why then, do you fret over your troubles? If God is for you, who can be against you?
As a young man, David understood the matchless power of the God of Israel. No one who comes against Him stands a chance. David also understood that if we are on God’s side then we too are mighty and undefeatable. The Lord demonstrated this to David in the wilderness against lions and bears. Who is this Philistine in comparison to God? David was the only person in Israel who had faith enough to step onto the battlefield. He knew victory was his because God was for him!
What Goliaths do you face today? No matter how impossible things might seem, God is able! Get your eyes off of the circumstance and get your eyes on Jesus. Stop fretting over your inabilities and look to the Almighty, who can obtain victory over every enemy. Remember the great things He has done in the past. Let them fuel your faith for today. If God is for you, who can be against you?
Father, we thank You for fighting our battles. Help us to stand in the shadow of your wing and watch You defeat every foe. Give us faith to believe we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
