2 Chronicles 19:2–3 (ESV): “2 But Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord. 3 Nevertheless, some good is found in you, for you destroyed the Asheroth out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God.”
Those who help the wicked prosper will be held accountable by God. Don't yoke yourself to anyone who is known to be evil. Stay true to God, and support those walking in the light!
Jehosaphat yoked himself to Ahab, king of Israel, by way of marriage. He also went to war with him against the Syrians. Ahab was a wicked man. What was Jehoshaphat doing by partnering with someone who was actively standing against the Lord? God ends up judging Ahab, as he ends up dying in battle. The Lord also prevented Jehosphat from being overtaken. When he returned to Jerusalem, Jehu the prophet came out and spoke judgment against Jehosaphat for supporting the wicked.
Did you know that the Lord takes issue with His people supporting those who stand in opposition to Him? Evil is everywhere, but we must not actively stand with those who are walking in it. It's only a matter of time before their darkness wears off on you. Don't forget what team you are on, Christian. We need to stand for the Lord and try to reach those who aren’t, but we must never yoke ourselves to them. Amen?
Father, protect us from being yoked to evil. We want to stand for You, so give us discernment and wisdom in these dark days we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
