Esther 2:17 (ESV): “…the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she won grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.”
We are created by God with a specific purpose in mind (Eph. 2:10). We were fashioned and formed in the womb for such a time as this. The only question is, will we live for our created purpose or for some artificial one?
The Queen of Persia during the time of Esther was Vashti. She was very beautiful but became disenchanted with her role. When she refused to come before King Ahasuerus, he made a law that she was never to come before him again and that a new queen would be chosen in her place. Esther would become the replacement queen, born for such a time as this. She is a type of Christ in the sense that God would use her to deliver His people from slaughter. Esther did nothing to become queen; she simply did what was set before her to do. Although God is never mentioned in this book, you can see His fingerprints all over this story.
Are you living out your purpose? Many people struggle with understanding what that purpose is. It’s pretty simple: to be a representative of Christ. That is why you are here. If you’re struggling to know your purpose, begin today by being a witness for Christ. If you are faithful with the little things, He will use you for more. He knows His plan for you. Commit to Him, and you will begin to see it too! In the words of Jesus, “Seek first the kingdom of God.” His plan will unfold to those who diligently seek Him! Amen?
Father, we thank You for creating us to be Your witnesses in this day and age. We were placed by You in this culture and time to make You known. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we may live out our purpose. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
