Jeremiah 29:10-11

Jeremiah 29:10-11 (ESV): 10 “For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God’s plan for humanity is a good plan—full of grace and offering salvation to all who will trust in the Son. There is no better plan in existence.

Amid the false prophets who were proclaiming a short captivity in Babylon, God again reiterated His plan through Jeremiah. The people of Judah would be exiled for seventy years, and when their time was complete, God would restore them to their land and prosper them. God would be faithful to keep His promise!

The Lord has a plan for your life too! It’s a good plan—one that includes trials and difficulties designed to shape us and build character. If you are in Christ, you can rest in His plan. He is accomplishing exactly what is necessary to prosper you spiritually. He will fulfill His purposes, and we get a front-row seat to watch it all unfold. Praise God!

Father, we thank You for the good plan You have for each of us. We may feel as though we are in exile right now, but it won’t be long before You move us forward. Help us to stay the course amid these momentary afflictions, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
