Jeremiah 6:17

Jeremiah 6:17 (ESV): “17  I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not pay attention.’ 18  Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, what will happen to them.”

In every generation, God has appointed spokesmen to warn people of spiritual decline and divine judgment. When the final judgment occurs, it should catch no one by surprise, for God has been declaring the coming Tribulation for thousands of years.

Jeremiah makes a profound statement here: God has long been warning Judah of her spiritual decline and the consequences thereof. All God is asking for is a people who will repent and turn their hearts back to Him. The way He catches their attention is through hardship and captivity. Sadly, they were not willing to heed the warning, and thus the captivity came to pass.

Like Judah, how many in our culture are not heeding the warning of our God? This applies both personally and corporately. If you are not willing to obey God, then don’t be surprised when you experience hardship. That may be God’s wake-up call to you. The final wake-up call is coming. For seven years, God will declare to a hard-hearted people, “Wake up before it is too late.” Get right with God today by heeding His warning. Amen?

Father, thank You for being so loving and patient with us. You never cease to be gracious and forgiving. Give us ears to hear and hearts to obey Your voice, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.Jeeemiah
