Mark 13:14

Mark 13:14: ““But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”

Christians aren’t called to be obsessed with the Antichrist; we’re called to be watching for Jesus Christ. End-times prophecy was never meant to fill believers with fear, but with hope, urgency, and expectation. We watch the signs not because we’re afraid of what’s coming, but because we know Who is coming.

The disciples asked Jesus when the end would come. He pointed to signs such as wars, earthquakes, pestilence, and famine, but one of the clearest signs will be the Antichrist’s desecration of the Temple. Revelation 6:2 pictures a conquering rider on a white horse, often understood as the Antichrist, and halfway through the Tribulation he will exalt himself as God in the Temple. Jesus warns those living in that day to remain faithful and endure to the end.

Believers aren’t called to look for the Antichrist; we’re called to be ready for Jesus Christ. In the pretribulational view, the Rapture occurs before the Tribulation, meaning the Church is taken before the Antichrist is fully revealed. So our eyes aren’t fixed on the coming false christ, but on the coming true Christ. Jesus is coming for His Church. Are you ready? Live ready, because He will come at an hour you do not expect.

Father, keep us faithful until You call us home. Keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and His return rather than consumed with the rise of the Antichrist. Use the signs of the times to awaken us, motivate us, and keep us focused on Kingdom work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
