2 Chronicles 14:11–12 (ESV): 11 And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.” 12 So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.”
When trouble comes, we have an advocate who will stand for us. The Lord is our strong tower, and those who run to Him are safe!
After Rehoboam died, his son Abijah reigned in Judah. He overpowered Jeraboam and took many cities from him. When Abijah died, his son Asa took the reigns in Judah. He did what was good and right in the sight of God. He tore down altars and high places. Asa had an army of 580,000 men of valor but grew concerned when Ethiopia came to war with a million-foot soldiers and 300 chariots. Thus, Asa cried out to God for help, and the Lord defeated the Ethiopians.
Where do you run when trouble comes? If we are honest, we often run to man. We should train ourselves to run to God with ALL of our problems first. He will direct our steps from there. Make God your go-to in times of trouble. For even when we are surrounded, we can hope in our God. Nothing is impossible for Him. Run to the Father and trust in His ability to bring victory in every situation. For NOTHING is impossible for Him. Amen?
Father, we thank You that we can come boldly to the throne of grace and call out for help. You are a God who hears and acts on our behalf. Help us, Lord, even now we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
