2 Chronicles 34:3 (ESV): “3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and the metal images.”
Actions speak louder than words. You can say you follow the Lord, but if your actions don’t align with that claim, then you’re lying to yourself. Make sure your walk matches your talk.
Josiah was eight years old when he became king of Judah. His father, Ammon, was a wicked man, and his grandfather, Manasseh, was also evil. If being a product of your environment is a reality, Josiah would seem doomed. Yet somehow, when he was around sixteen, he began to follow the Lord. When he was about twenty-six, he heard the law for the first time and tore his clothes, recognizing that the culture he lived in was an abomination to God. He took action, tearing down all the places of idolatry. He also restored the Temple. Josiah was a man whose walk matched his talk.
Does your walk match your talk? It is so important that it does. Not only are you a witness to others, but it also says something about where your heart is. No one will live perfectly, but is there fruit in your life? Remember, Jesus was mighty in both word and deed! Walk out your faith, Christian. Don’t just tell people about it—live it! God will be able to use you greatly if you do.
Father, thank You for showing us Your love by sending Your Son. May we not just say we love You, but show it by how we live. Fill us with the power and actions to walk the talk. In Jesus’ name, amen.
