2 Chronicles 9:22–23 (ESV): 22 Thus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. 23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind.
Uncle Ben once told a young Peter Parker, “With great power comes great responsibility.” It's true. Spiritually speaking, the gifting we’ve been given is to be used for the glory of God and the good of others.
As Solomon grew in notoriety and power, people came from all over the world to witness his wisdom. The Queen of Sheba came to test his wisdom and found him to be exceedingly wise. She said, “I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it. And behold, half the greatness of your wisdom was not told me; you surpass the report that I heard.” All the kings of the earth came to see for themselves the exceeding wisdom of Solomon. This was a gift given to Solomon by God and should be used for His glory and the good of others.
What gift has God given you? We are reminded not to forsake the gift of God. We are stewards of the gift of God. We should use it to bring glory to God and for the good of others. If you have stopped using your God-given gifts, start exercising them again. May God fan into flame the gifts that are within you so that you can use them for His intended purpose. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable (Ro 11:29).
Father, we thank You for gifting us as You see fit. Help us to steward our gifting well and to use them to bring glory to Your name and to bless others we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
