2 Kings 13:4-5

2 Kings 13:4–5 (ESV): “4 Then Jehoahaz sought the favor of the Lord, and the Lord listened to him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them. 5 Therefore the Lord gave Israel a savior, so that they escaped from the hand of the Syrians, and the people of Israel lived in their homes as formerly.”

God is faithful to provide a Savior for all peoples of every tongue, tribe, and nation.  He desires that no man would perish but all would come to repentance (2 Pt 3:9b).  Jesus is our Savior!

When Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, began to reign in Israel, he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.  Thus, the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He gave them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and Ben-hadad, the son of Hazael.  Jehoahaz cried out to God, and the Lord provided a savior for them.  Just as God heard the cries of Israel in Egypt, He also heard the cries of Israel here and responded with deliverance.

Are you drowning in oppression internally or externally?  God sees you and is faithful to respond to your cries.  When we call upon Him, He sends a savior on our behalf.  Over and over He did this for Israel, and He will do it for you!  Our ultimate Savior has come, His name is Jesus.  “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Ro 8:1).”  God is faithful, and He will provide a Savior for you.  Cry out to God and be saved!

Father, we thank You for providing a way of escape from our oppression.  Remind us that salvation and deliverance come in the same way, by calling upon Your name.  We cry out to you now.  Save us, Oh Lord, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
