2 Kings 9:36–37 (ESV): 36 When they came back and told him, he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite: ‘In the territory of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel, 37 and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as dung on the face of the field in the territory of Jezreel, so that no one can say, This is Jezebel.’ ”
God is faithful to bring to pass every prophetic word. He may not move in your timing but He will certainly keep His Word!
Before Elijah went to heaven, he prophesied the death of Jezebel. Elijah didn't see the prophetic word come to pass, but Elisha did.
After anointing Jehu as king of Israel, Elisha proclaimed all Baal worship to be abolished in Israel. Part of this declaration was to remove Jezebel, so Jehu started a civil war. When he came to Jezreel, he commanded Jezebel’s eunuchs to throw her off the balcony, and the dogs ate her body as prophesied (1 Kg 21:23). It took some ten years for this prophecy to come to pass.
Are you questioning the prophetic word of God? Understand that God is working in His timing. As Peter said, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance (2 Pt 3:9).” Don’t grow weary in the waiting. Keep believing and know that God is at work behind the scenes to accomplish His will. He will surely do everything He promises to do, including judging the wicked.
Father, keep our hearts believing every prophetic promise You’ve given. Even if we don't see it come to pass, may we never cease to believe we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
