Deuteronomy 5:29

Writer: Tim RomeroTim Romero

Deuteronomy 5:29 (ESV): “29 Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!”

Many consider the Bible as a book of endless rules. They suppose that God is attempting to keep them from having fun. The reality is that the commands found within are meant to bless us. All we have to do is keep them. Fear God and be obedient for this is the way to a blessed life!

After Moses had recited the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel, he reminded them of their words to God. They said they would do all that God had commanded them. They feared the Lord! Moses reminded them that God heard their words. His reply was, “Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all of my commandments.” He desires this because that is where the blessings are found! “That it would go well with them and with their descendants forever.”

Are you experiencing your best life now? If so, then that means you fear God and are walking obediently in the Spirit. We will naturally keep the commands of God as a result. Don't make a checklist out of your faith. Just surrender to the Holy Spirit and do what He instructs you to do. You will keep all the commandments naturally. God’s prayer for us is that our hearts will be consistent. Fear God and walk in the Spirit and you will keep His commands! Amen?

Father, we surrender to your Spirit. Keep our hearts in this place so that we can bring glory to Your name and experience a blessed life. Keep us consistent we pray in Jesus' name, amen and amen!
