Ezekiel 2:3-5

Ezekiel 2:3-5 (ESV):  And he said to me, “Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to nations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day. The descendants also are impudent and stubborn: I send you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ And whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house) they will know that a prophet has been among them.”

The prophet of God had one simple job: deliver the message God gave him. Similarly, the Church has the same calling—we must be faithful to proclaim the message God has entrusted to us!

Ezekiel was both a prophet and a priest, one of the first exiles taken to Babylon. After the fall of Jerusalem, the Lord used him to speak hope and reassurance to a people who had lost sight of God’s covenant promises. In the thirteenth year of his exile, God spoke these words to him: he was to go to the people of Israel and proclaim the words God would give him. Ezekiel was not responsible for how the people received the message. His responsibility was simply to be faithful in delivering it.

As Christians, did you know we have a similar calling? God has given us a message of hope and reassurance—the Gospel. Like Ezekiel, we too are sent to a rebellious people, and we are not responsible for how they respond. Our responsibility is to go and proclaim the invitation to life through a crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ—the Son of God and God the Son! Go tell somebody the good news today. This is your calling. Be faithful!

Father, You have saved us and sent us to be Your voice in these days. Give us boldness to proclaim the Gospel in love. May we be found faithful, we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
