Haggai 2:4-5 (ESV): “Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the Lord. Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts, 5 according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not.”
What God calls us to do will require His empowerment to accomplish. If you’re on God’s team, be prepared to be stretched.
You can imagine how daunting it must have been to return to Judah and see the Temple in a pile of rubble. Where would they get the resources and ability to rebuild? Remember, this was Solomon’s Temple—it was grand! People were doubting and fearful, and yet God said, “Build My house!” He would give them all that they needed to do this. He is Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides.
What is God calling you to do that has your back against the ropes? If it’s nothing, then I suggest you start seeking Him, because what He calls us to is often uncomfortable and completely undoable without His help. Stop dinking around, Christian—we have a mission to accomplish. But know this: without His help, it will be impossible to do so.
Father, thank You for taking weak, broken vessels and allowing us to be used to accomplish Your will. Keep us humble and filled with faith so that we will step into the uncomfortable and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, amen and amen!
