Hosea 10:3 (ESV): “For now they will say: “We have no king, for we do not fear the Lord; and a king—what could he do for us?”
Beware of seeking a man to fix your problems. There is only One who can truly do that—His name is Jesus. Humble yourself before Him, surrender to His Lordship, and watch how He turns things around.
As God prospered the nation of Israel, they grew comfortable and shifted their affections from God to other things. They gave themselves to idolatry and materialism. Though they were warned of this danger, they continued down that path, which ultimately led to bondage and exile. And when trouble came, instead of looking to the Lord, they looked to a king to rescue them. They sought help everywhere except from God—and it led to their tragic downfall.
When trouble comes upon your land, to whom do you look for help? We should look to God and allow Him to deliver us. There is no one on this earth who can do what He can do. Don’t look to political leaders or anyone else to save you from trouble. Look to Jesus—our King of kings and Lord of lords. He is able. Turn your heart to Him and watch Him work in miraculous ways. Amen?
Father, we praise Your holy name. You are glorious and worthy of our wholehearted allegiance. May we look to no other all the days of our lives. Be the solution to every need we have, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
