Isaiah 49:8

Isaiah 49:8 (ESV): “Thus says the Lord: “In a time of favor I have answered you; in a day of salvation I have helped you; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, to establish the land, to apportion the desolate heritages.”

It’s been said, “A man is only as good as his word.” The same holds true for God. He is only as good as His Word. Thankfully, He honors His Word above His name. He is faithful!

Isaiah pens a Messianic wonder here. Alan Redpath stated, “This chapter is full of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the words quoted could not possibly have their complete fulfillment in any other.” God is promising Israel that He will keep His covenant with them. In so doing, He will provide a New Covenant through Messiah (Jer 31:31-33). One thing you can be sure of is that God will do it! He keeps His promises.

Has God called you into a covenant relationship with Him? If so, then you can count on Him to keep His promises. As is stated, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Phil 1:6).” God is faithful. So take Him at His Word and watch Him complete it! Amen?

Father, You are faithful even when we are not. You have never, and will never, fail us. Help us to walk in complete trust as You complete the work You began in us we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
