Isaiah 52:7 (ESV): “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
The Puritan William Gurnall stated in his book The Christian in Complete Armour, “The gospel preacher is heaven’s herald; his voice may be weak, his appearance poor, but his message makes his steps noble. Those who bring peace from God to sinners walk with the beauty of the skies upon their feet.”
Isaiah pens a prophetic wonder that would begin seven hundred years after he wrote and would continue until the end of time. God would send messengers into all the world with good news—that those estranged from Him could have their sins forgiven by believing in and trusting His only begotten Son, through His death and resurrection. These heralds of the Gospel would offer salvation and peace through Jesus Christ.
How wonderful was it when you first heard and believed the Gospel? Do you remember the gratitude in your heart for the one who shared it with you? Those who have believed and received the Gospel are now the ones called to proclaim it to others. We get to be the beautiful feet to those who are destined for Hell. What a privilege it is to share that forgiveness is available. Be that person to someone today. Share the Gospel with someone! Amen?
Father, what a privilege it is to be Your ambassadors in this world. We have an important message to share, so help us to be bold and loving today. We want to be those beautiful feet to those around us. Use us, we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
