Isaiah 66:18

Isaiah 66:18 (ESV):  “For I know their works and their thoughts, and the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and shall see my glory…

The promise of the coming King is comforting to some and concerning for others. To those who are waiting for Him, they long to see His presence. But for His enemies, they will mourn at His coming. The response is determined by the kind of relationship one has with Him.

Isaiah speaks of a regathering of all nations under one mighty King. He is prophesying about the Second Coming of Christ. The Lord will regather every nation, tribe, tongue, and people, and He will be their God, and they shall be His people. There will be a sign given in heaven—that is, the Son of Man—and Jesus will come on the clouds to regather His people and judge His enemies with the sword. It is a day that the entire universe is anticipating.

How would you respond to the coming of Jesus today? Are you ready to see your Lord, or would you dread it? Your response will be determined by the kind of relationship you have with the Lord. At that point, it will be too late to get right with God. It will also be too late to begin living for Him. The point is that we are to be ready at all times for His return. If you are, you will rejoice at His coming. May this serve as a notice to all: the King is coming. Are you ready?

Father, we thank You for continually reminding us of the Second Coming of Your Son. Keep our hearts ready. Reveal Yourself to those who don’t know You, that they might rejoice and not mourn at His return. May we occupy until You come, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
