Leviticus 26:3–4 (ESV): 3 “If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, 4 then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Obedience to God affects our everyday life. That isn't to say that when life gets hard is it due to disobedience, but it can be. Self-examination is the first place to start when life gets hard. Respond appropriately.
God commanded His people not to make any idols for themselves, nor erect any images or pillars, or to set up a figured stone in the land that they should bow down to. They must also be careful to observe the Sabbath and revere His sanctuary (Lev 26:1-2). These were a few of the statues God called Israel to walk in lest they experience drought and unfruitfulness. God promised them that He would bless the land and send rain if they would be faithful. All they had to do was obey.
Do you find yourself working hard with little result? Have you ever considered that it could be because there is sin in your life? It's not always the case but it can be. God desires His people to do their very best at walking in His ways. When we don't and are unrepentant we can expect some pushback from God. He won't condemn us but He will discipline those whom He loves. Examine your heart daily. If you are falling short repent and walk in His Word. Life is much better when we live like this! Amen?
Father, we thank You for speaking to us daily through Your Word and our circumstances. Forgive us for falling short and help us to walk obediently to You we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
