Luke 1:31-33

Luke 1:31-33: 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.””

Human history has contained some incredible announcements. “The war is over. Smallpox has been eradicated. A cure has been discovered.” But none of them compare to the announcement made to Mary about the coming of the Messiah. It is the single greatest announcement our world has been given.

Six months after Elizabeth became pregnant with John, Gabriel visited a virgin in the city of Nazareth and told her she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit and He shall be called Jesus. The name means, “God is salvation.” How appropriate since Jesus is God and He has come to save! Jesus would be born as a descendant of David and become the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant, which promised that David’s throne would be established forever (2 Samuel 7:12–16).

What is the greatest announcement given to you personally? It might be the birth of a child or the remission of cancer. As incredible as those are, the announcement that your sins are forgiven beats them all by a country mile.

No news can compare to the Good News of the Gospel. Jesus’ mission is to save. He lived a sinless life and gave Himself as the atoning sacrifice for our sins through His death on the cross. If you haven’t received the forgiveness Jesus offers, what are you waiting for? Come to Jesus today and trust in Him for the forgiveness of your sins. Best decision you could ever make! Amen?

Father, how great it is to hear, “Your sins are forgiven!” We rejoice in Your Son, for He is the only way. Help us to live a life worthy of Him, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
