Matthew 10:37 (ESV): “37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”
The throne of your heart is a one-seater. It rightfully belongs to Christ. If something else occupies that throne, then Jesus will have no part with you. Yield your throne to the King alone.
Jesus told His disciples that persecution is a reality for those who follow Him. He reminded them that a servant isn’t greater than his master. If they persecuted Jesus, they would also persecute His followers. He then said He did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Following Jesus would even divide families. He went on to say that if you value any other human relationship more than your relationship with Him, then you are not worthy of Him. He alone must sit on the throne of your heart.
Is there anyone more important to you than God? How you live your life tells the story. If you forsake the Lord for anyone or anything else, then He is not the most important person in your life. He will not play second chair in your life, friend. He is either on the throne, or He will have no part with you. It is all or nothing—don’t fool yourself. Actions speak louder than words. Put Jesus on the throne and let Him lead your life. Amen?
Father, You are worthy of our whole heart and nothing less. Forgive us for allowing other things to crowd the throne. Take Your rightful place, we pray, as we surrender to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
