Matthew 8:28-29 (ESV): “28 And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. 29 And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?””
The Bible proclaims that there is a time for everything. This doesn’t just apply to His most prized creation—us—but also to the demonic. The time for their judgment is appointed, and they know it.
Jesus went to the country of the Gadarenes, and there He encountered two demon-possessed men living outside the city of Gadara in the tombs. The demons recognized Jesus when He came ashore, and they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” They understood that they were under a divine timeline. Judgment was awaiting them, and they knew it wasn’t yet the time. Jesus also knew the time had not yet come, so He cast these demons into a herd of pigs, cleansing both the men who were possessed and the land from animals that were not permissible to the Jews.
Did you know that you are also operating under a divine timeline? God has numbered your days. We should be about the Father’s business. There is so much work to be done, and God has chosen you to be His servant in this day and age. So do it with intention and diligence, for the day of rest is coming for those in Christ. Be faithful and reap the harvest. Amen?
Father, we thank You for reminding us that time is short. Just as You have a plan for the demonic, so too do You have a plan for us. May we fulfill it fully, we pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
