Micah 3:11

Micah 3:11 (ESV): “Its heads give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money; yet they lean on the Lord and say, “Is not the Lord in the midst of us?”

Trusting God is not doing whatever you want and expecting Him to meet you there. It is surrendering to His will and allowing Him to direct your path.

Micah points out the spiritual problem in Judah. They were giving God lip service, but their hearts were far from Him. The rulers were taking bribes and then glorifying God for prospering them. The priests and prophets would only minister if they were being paid. All the while, they were saying, “Look how God is working in our midst.” They were giving God credit, but they were ignoring the reality that He had noting to do with their actions. They were not trusting in God—they were trusting in themselves.

How often do we give God the glory for things we are doing apart from Him? God is not interested in false accolades. He desires to direct our steps. He wants to be the One leading us in the decisions we make. Ask yourself today: Who is leading your life— you or Him? Surrender yourself to Him, and refuse to move unless He directs you. This is when God is truly glorified in our lives. Let Him lead. Amen?

Father, we thank You for leading us and for lovingly calling us out when we are not following. We ask that You take Your rightful place in our lives and direct our steps according to Your will. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
