Psalm 103:10-12

Writer's picture: Tim RomeroTim Romero

Psalm 103:10–12 (ESV): “10  He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. 11  For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12  as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

There’s nothing in this world like God’s forgiveness. Through the blood of Jesus, it’s available to anyone who seeks it. Scripture promises that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Hallelujah!

David, the writer of this psalm, understood both the depths of failure and the beauty of God’s forgiveness. Spurgeon suggests, “We should attribute it to his later years when he had a higher sense of the preciousness of pardon, because a keener sense of sin, than in his younger days.” David knew what it was like to completely blow it—and he also knew the joy of being washed clean by God’s mercy. That same mercy is extended to us today. God casts our sins as far as the east is from the west and remembers them no more.

Isn’t it freeing to know you’re forgiven? God’s steadfast love guarantees it. He is always faithful to forgive—our part is to be faithful in receiving it. Stop holding on to past mistakes. Let God wash away the shame and cast your sins into the sea of forgiveness. He desires to set you free, but you have to let Him. Confess your sins, and He will forgive you and restore you. Amen?

Father, thank You for Your steadfast love that makes forgiveness possible. Help us to walk in obedience to You, and when we fail, remind us that forgiveness is always available. Wash me, Lord! I repent and ask for Your cleansing in Jesus’ name. Amen.
