1 Chronicles 13:11-13

1 Chronicles 13:11–13 (ESV): “11 And David was angry because the Lord had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-Uzza to this day. 12 And David was afraid of God that day, and he said, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” 13 So David did not take the ark home into the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.”

God cares about the process as much as He does the outcome.  If you are doing the right thing in the wrong way you can expect God to push back.  Remember, partial obedience is full rebellion to Him.

When David prepared to bring the Ark back to Jerusalem from Kiriath-jearim, he built a cart for the Ark to be transported on.  The problem with this is that God forbid it.  The Ark was to be carried (Ex 25:12-15). Nevertheless, God allowed it to be transported on the cart.   However, when Uzza saw it was tipping over while traveling through Childon’s threshing floor, he reached out to save it.  He was immediately struck down by God, for no one was allowed to touch the Ark.  David was angry with God at first, but then fear set in.  If David had been fully obedient to God, this would not have happened.

Are you upset with God because He chastised you for partial obedience?  It’s ridiculous to blame God for your unwillingness to do things His way.  Stop pointing the finger at God and point it back at yourself.  He isn't to blame. If we are fully obedient to Him, we will never have to worry about experiencing His chastisement.  Amen?

Father, we fear You and desire to be fully obedient to Your Word.   Fill us with Your Spirit so we can do so.  We desire to do Your will right away, all the way, and with a happy heart, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
