1 Kings 13:17-19

1 Kings 13:17–19 (ESV):  “18 And he said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” But he lied to him. 19 So he went back with him and ate bread in his house and drank water.”

The Lord will never contradict Himself.   He says what He means, and means what He says.  Don't be swayed by the whispers of man.

Rehoboam, Solomon’s son, assembled an army to fight against Jeroboam but the Lord would not allow it.  He sent them all home after revealing that God purposely divided Israel. Jeroboam then took ten of the twelve tribes of Israel with him, and they settled in northern Israel.  He then set up high places from Bethel to Dan.   A man of God came and prophesied that a person named Josiah would surface by appointment from God to pull down the high places.  This prophet was instructed by God not to eat or drink in the northern kingdom.  However, the prophet was swayed by another man of God who lied to him saying, “An angel appeared to me and said you were to eat and drink with me.”  The prophet disobeyed God which resulted in him being killed by a lion.

Who are you following?  Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice.”  Make sure you are hearing from God, then do exactly what He says.  Don't be swayed by anyone else.   God has your best interest in mind.  Never doubt Him!  Follow His directions and you will be blessed.  Amen?

Father, we thank You for speaking to us personally.  Help us to be aware of the schemes of the evil one who will lie to us about Your will.   We want to follow You and You alone we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
