1 Samuel 28:11-13

Writer's picture: Tim RomeroTim Romero

1 Samuel 28:11–13 (ESV): 11 Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” He said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” 12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul.” 13 The king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.”

The demonic is real!  Those who seek answers from the dark side are interacting with demons.  How much more real is God who interacts with us through His Spirit?

After David fled Saul and went to live amongst the Philistines, Saul sought a medium at En-dor.   He disguised himself and asked her to bring up Samuel.  She knew it was Saul.  To her amazement, she saw something she had never seen before.  Samuel appeared and she called him “god,” which is “Elohim” in Hebrew, a reference to God in plural form (the Trinity).  Samuel said, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?…Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord and did not carry out his fierce wrath against Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. Moreover, the Lord will give Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons shall be with me (vs 15;18-19).”

Are you seeking answers from the wrong source?  No one but God can give you what you are looking for.  Stop looking to everything else but Him.  He reveals Himself to those who truly seek Him (Jer 29:13; Jer 33;3; 2 Chron 15:2).  He is real!   Seek Him first, before speaking to anyone else, and you too will be surprised.  Amen?

Father, forgive us for looking for answers outside of You.  We have all we need in You.  We seek You now so speak, for Your servant is listening, in Jesus' name, amen.
