2 Samuel 11:5-6

2 Samuel 11:5–6 (ESV): “5 And the woman conceived, and she sent and told David, “I am pregnant.” 6 So David sent word to Joab, “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent Uriah to David.”

Trying to cover up your sin will only

lead to more sin.  Freedom begins by shining light into darkness.  Acknowledge you have fallen, confess it, turn from it, and the Lord will set you free.

After David knew Bathsheba she became pregnant. This was a huge problem considering her husband Uriah was on the battlefield.  Rather than come clean about their sin, David called Uriah home in hopes that he would sleep with his wife.  He would not, so David sent him to the front lines of the battle so he would be stuck down.  This displeased the Lord.

What is your go-to response to sin?  Do you hide it, try and cover it up, or come clean?  The Lord forgives us for our wrongdoing.  All He desires is for us to turn from our sins and turn back to Him.  It's called repentance.  Don't dig a hole with more sin.  Just come clean before the Lord.  “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 Jn 1:9).” It's time to come clean!  Amen?

Father, we thank You for Your love.  It covers a multitude of sins.  Help us to repent quickly so our hearts can be kept in a place of freedom.  Convict us even now of sins we have hidden or tried to cover up.  Set us free once again we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
