2 Samuel 12:10

Writer: Tim RomeroTim Romero

2 Samuel 12:10 (ESV): 10 Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’

Every sin has consequences.  Some are felt immediately, and some not so much.  Regardless, know this, every sin has consequences.  Own it and learn from it.

After David murdered Uriah, God sent Nathan to rebuke him.  The Lord told David that the sword would never depart his house.  This was one consequence of his sin.  The Lord then afflicted the baby with sickness and he died. David’s consequences were great, but his sin was great too!

Are you living with some consequences for your sin today?  The Lord is our comfort and peace in all things.   If you are presently suffering due to a sinful choice you made, press into the Lord.   He loves you beyond your sin.  He will give you strength and the ability to navigate the waters of your consequences.  He is gracious and will walk with you.  He will provide what you need to get through it!

Father, we thank You for forgiving us but also for allowing us to experience the consequences of our sins.  Teach us, strengthen us, change us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
