21 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 11

DAY 11 - LEADERSHIP

“11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ...”

– Ephesians 4:11-13 –

God has given us godly men and women who are both seen and unseen as leaders in our body. We ascribe to a male headship which we believe to be the Biblical model of the church, thus our Board Members, Elders, and Deacons are all men whom God has raised up to minister to our body. We also have women leaders who serve as heads of our children and women’s ministries as well as various other ministries in our body. God has placed these men and women in our body to equip us for the work of the ministry, to build up the body of Christ that we would attain unity and faith and knowledge of the Son of God, and to mature and be fashioned into the image of Jesus.

Pray for the spiritual anointing of each leader, and that they would hear God clearly, seek Him diligently, and serve Him tirelessly. Pray for fresh vision, wisdom, and direction. Ask God to fill them with the Spirit and empower them with unique gifts that will help them accomplish much for His honor and glory. Pray for purity and faithfulness and discernment and for spiritual protection against the enemy. Pray for their continued growth in the Lord and for humility as God uses them. Pray, most of all, for unity in our leadership, and that God would raise up the future leaders in our congregation for worship, pastoral ministry, evangelism, children’s, youth, home fellowships, and men’s and women’s ministries.

“The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve.”

– John Stott –
