DAY 15 - GOVERNING AUTHORITIES
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
– 1 Timothy 2:1-2 –
Every position of authority is given by God (Rom. 13:1) therefore, each one of us must respect and honor these positions. We don’t have to respect and honor ungodly decisions, but we do and must respect the position of authority, for it is from God. It is vital that God’s people be making supplications (praying for what is lacking), prayers (requests), intercessions (pray on behalf of), and thanksgiving (gratitude) for those in authority. They are making decisions that affect our freedoms and rights under the hand of God, and they need His Spirit to guide, guard and direct them down the right path.
Pray for humility, wisdom, and discernment for our President and Vice President. Pray for our Supreme Court Justices, our U.S. Senators and Representatives, our State Senators and Representatives, our county Mayor, Sheriff, and Chief of Police. Also pray for our local city councilmen and county commissioners, as well as the leaders in our workplaces and anyone else in a leadership role you can think of. Please pray for the salvations of those who are yet to personally know the Lord Jesus.
“Praying for those in authority means that we are constantly asking that the Lord will open their hearts to the truth of the Gospel message and receive Christ as their Savior. Born-again leaders have the indwelling person of the Holy Spirit to guide them as they seek to govern.”
– Franklin Graham –
