21 Days of Prayer and Fasting - DAY 2

DAY 2 – PRIORITY ONE

“ 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33 –

Life can get so overwhelming at times. From the needs we have to the bills that need to be paid, we can be tempted to seek these things first rather than God and His Kingdom. Worry has a way of distracting us from what is truly the most important. It disguises itself as responsibility, but, in the end, it is nothing more than fear that God won’t provide as He promised to.

Jesus said in the preceding verses before Matthew 6:33 that the issue is “little faith.” We ought not worry about what we eat or what we will drink or what we will wear, neither should we seek after these things in terms of making them our top priority. We ought to seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness keeping God the priority in our lives, and God will make sure we have all that we need!

What has distracted you from seeking God first? Has worry become a way of life for you? If so, choose today to seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness making our sole pursuit Him and watch Him supply your every need. Pray that God will give you a heart for the things that matter most to Him and not those that matter most to you. Make a conscious effort to trust Him in plenty and in want never pulling back from Bible study, prayer, the breaking of bread or communion to become the provider. May Jesus say regarding you, “not even in Israel have I found such great faith.” (Lk 7:9)

“Does your business, your family, or your own temporal concerns, in some shape or other, primarily occupy your attention? I never knew a child of God who acted according to the above passage, in whose experience the Lord did not fulfill His word of promise, “All these things shall be added unto you.” – George Mueller –
