DAY 9 - UNITY
“10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”
– 1 Corinthians 1:10 –
The greatest manifestation of love in the body of Christ is unity. When love is the chief goal of all people, humility follows producing unbreakable unity. Pride is the biggest culprit of division and a wrecking ball of the oneness Jesus died to give us. Unity is not uniformity. God is not a “cookie cutter” God. He has created us very different from one another, and, yet, in our diversity, we have one common goal, the glory of God. We can be very different, and even believe differently about non-foundational things, but still love one another and maintain a unity in the Spirit of God. That brings more glory to God than nearly anything else we can do. Paul is appealing through the Spirit here that we all agree to pursue unity over our differences. Pray that our body is unified through love.
Pray we would deal with our differences in a Biblical way and never break the unity of Christ. May we also seek to be unified with other bodies in our community who are seeking to make Jesus famous. Pray that our body is so unified that God might give us opportunities to bring further unity to the body of Christ as a whole. Let us be part of the solution and not part of the problem. May we be known in our community as bridge builders and not a demolition crew. Pray we would be known for what we are “for” and not what we are against. Pray that we would agree that there would be no divisions among us, but that we are united in the same mind and the same judgment.
“The spiritual life in the believer never has known dissension or break, because where the Spirit has perfect liberty, then they all agree and there is no schism in the body.”
– Smith Wigglesworth –
