Daniel 11:36-37

Daniel 11:36-37 (ESV):36 “And the king shall do as he wills. He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done. 37 He shall pay no attention to the gods of his fathers, or to the one beloved by women. He shall not pay attention to any other god, for he shall magnify himself above all.

There is coming a day when the Antichrist will rise and exalt himself as God. Jesus spoke of this event (Matt. 24:15–16), and Paul confirmed it as well (2 Thess. 2:1–4). This was not historically fulfilled by Antiochus or by the Romans, but remains future.

The first thirty-five verses of Daniel 11 were fulfilled by the Ptolemies and the Seleucids. Beginning in verse 36, the angel shifts to reveal the Antichrist who has not yet appeared. There is no indication in history or elsewhere that Rome fulfilled this prophecy either. This final Antichrist will exalt himself above every god. Some scholars suggest he may be homosexual and a descendant of the Roman Empire. What we know for certain is the AntiChrist is on a short leash. The Lord will only permit him to go so far before Christ destroys him at His coming. God is in control, and all of this works to accomplish His divine plan.

As Christians, we are not looking for the Antichrist but for Jesus Christ. The Church will be removed before the Tribulation begins (1 Thess. 4:13–17; 2 Thess. 2:6–8). If you look around, you can see the world is being primed for a one-world government. The World Economic Forum has been pushing for a global currency, likely some form of CBDC. Not to mention the signs described in 2 Timothy 3:1–7. Hello! Time is short. Live for the Lord and tell as many people as you can about the wonder-working power of the blood of Jesus. Amen?

Father, we know You have revealed these things not to scare us, but to encourage us to be about Your business. Fill us with boldness and compassion toward those who don’t know You, and unify Your Church, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
