Daniel 12:1-3

Daniel 12:1-3 (ESV): “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

God will protect His people in various ways, including through angelic hosts. He will also protect the 144,000 Jewish witnesses in the Tribulation by His anointing. Finally, He protects all believers by the blood of His Son.

Daniel was given a vision of a future time of trouble. We know this is not referring to the Grecian or Roman campaigns against Israel, because Daniel 11:36–45 speaks of the Tribulation Period. We also know this because Daniel 12:2 speaks of the resurrection of the dead—both saved and unsaved alike. There are multiple resurrections for the saved (Matt 27:52–53; 1 Thess 4:16; Rev 20:4–6), but only one for the unsaved (Rev 20:12–13). The Lord will not only protect Israel and His witnesses during the Tribulation, but He will also protect all who belong to Him—even from everlasting death—by the blood of His Son!

Are you under the protection of the Lord today? His protection comes through His Son. If your name is not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, you will be resurrected to eternal death. But if it is, the Lord will protect you through the grave and into His presence forever and ever. Jesus is the only way (Jn 14:6) to be protected from the second death (Rev 20:14). The Lake of Fire was not prepared for you—but you must take shelter in the Son. Come to Christ and live for Him! Amen?

Father, thank You for protecting us. May we not rest until we are under Your wing and washed clean by the blood of Your Son. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
