Daniel 2:30 (ESV): “But as for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because of any wisdom that I have more than all the living, but in order that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your mind.”
How strange it is that men pat themselves and each other on the back for the things that God has done. Be careful not to take credit for anything good in your life, lest you rob God of the glory that belongs to Him alone!
After God revealed Nebuchadnezzar’s dream to Daniel, he was brought before the king. Daniel made it clear that this revelation came from God—it had nothing to do with his own wisdom or abilities. It was so that Nebuchadnezzar might recognize the glory of the One who knows all things. Daniel was careful not to elevate himself when God used him. This is a lesson every servant of the Most High God should learn and apply, lest we rob Him of the glory for what only He can do.
When God uses you to help another person, how do you handle the praise and admiration of others? Beware of false humility. Each of us must come to grips with the truth that we are not great—He alone is great. True humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less. God alone deserves the praise and glory. So be careful not to pat yourself on the back or allow others to do so on your behalf. Give all—not some, but all—the glory to God. Amen?
Father, You alone are God. You are the orchestrator of all good and therefore You deserve all the glory. Keep us humble and help us to continually yield ourselves to You, that You may be seen and glorified by all. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
