Daniel 6:21-22 (ESV): “21 Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
Circumstances can stir fear within us, yet we have a Deliverer who fights our battles. We need not fear our circumstances or the enemy behind them; instead, we should fear God and rest in His power to bring victory in every situation.
King Darius was distraught after delivering Daniel to the lions’ den. He soon realized that the decree had been a trap designed to eliminate Daniel. Though he tried to free him, he could not revoke the ordinance he had signed. That night, the king fasted and hoped that the living God—whom Daniel faithfully served—would protect him from the lions. The next morning, Darius rejoiced to hear Daniel’s voice and to see that God had delivered him from the evil scheme of his enemies.
How do you respond to evil assaults or life-threatening circumstances that God allows in your life? Do you allow fear to grip your heart, or do you trust the Lord? Never forget—the Lord is your Defender! He will fight your battles for you. Fear God, and watch Him silence your enemies and overcome your circumstances. He has not left or abandoned you; He is working all things for your good. Trust in Him, and you will experience a peace that surpasses understanding—a peace that will guard your heart through every trial. Amen?
Father, we thank You for delivering us from all evil. You alone do we fear. Give us faith to stand strong in the midst of our trials and protect us from doubt. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
