Deuteronomy 4:30-31

Deuteronomy 4:30–31 (ESV): “30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. 31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.”

God is a jealous God and a consuming fire. He will not tolerate idolatry of any kind. He is faithful to judge those who give their hearts to another.

Moses predicts that Israel will fall into idolatry after entering the Promised Land and God will judge her for it. The tribulation mentioned is a reference to the Babylonian Captivity which will take place in 550 years or so. Moses also promised that God would rescue this nation if they repent and seek His face again. God is faithful to His prophetic Word and His covenant with Abraham. He would never leave them or destroy them.

When God speaks of future judgment for idolatry do you believe it applies to us? America was established by God and for God. The Mayflower Compact tells the story. Our forefathers were sent to establish this nation primarily for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith. Will God not judge our nation the same as Israel for her idolatry? We reap what we sow! Humble yourself today, Christian. God is merciful and He will forgive us and heal our land if we seek Him diligently. He is faithful in every aspect! He is the only hope for America.

Father, forgive us for breaking faith and falling into the arms of another. Be the God of our hearts once again. We repent and turn back to You. We plead on behalf of our countrymen that You turn their hearts to You as well we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
