Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (ESV) “13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”

Life is full of journeys. Some chase success. Others chase love, experiences, thrills, or just some other sense of purpose. But there’s one quest that stands above the rest—the pursuit of knowing and serving God. Only He can satisfy your soul.

The Preacher (Solomon) went on a quest to discover the meaning of life. He searched for it in wisdom, wealth, women, wine, and work. Yet none of those things fulfilled him. In the end, he came to the conclusion that everyone eventually arrives at if they’re truly seeking: “Fear God and keep His commandments.”  This is the most important pursuit of life. And once you’ve found Him, serving Him becomes your greatest purpose. We will all stand before Him one day. This is the end of the matter.

Where are you on your journey today? Are you searching for meaning and purpose? Have you chased after your dreams only to find they left you empty? God created you to know Him and serve Him. Only when we embrace this truth will our souls find rest.  Know Him, then serve Him. That is what you were made to do. If you haven’t sought Him yet—start today. If you already know Him—keep serving Him. This is the end of the matter.

Father, thank You for giving us an instruction manual for life. You have revealed Yourself in every way possible, and You’ve made it clear what we were created for. Help us to walk in our purpose—to know You and serve You—all the days of our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.
