Exodus 35:30–33 (ESV): “30 Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft.”
God provides the means to fulfill our ministry by empowering us through His Spirit. He will never expect us to do any kind of spiritual work without His empowerment.
God told Moses that He was going to empower Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah to form and fashion all the furniture and tapestry in the Tabernacle in accordance to His design. He said he would “fill them with the Spirit.” That means He would make them full of the Spirit of God. This is what we call the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (AKA the filling of the Spirit). It's an empowerment for service. The OT Saints were never sealed with the Spirit (Eph 1:13-14), only filled to complete God’s work.
Did you know that when you believed in the Lord Jesus you were sealed with the Spirit? That means He came inside you to dwell. He tabernacles with you. He also fills you with power (Acts 1:8) to be a witness for Christ. If you find yourself trying to complete the work that God has called you to in the flesh ask Him for a fresh filling of His Spirit. He will most certainly give it to you (Lk 11:11-13). All you have to do is ask!
Father, we thank You for empowering us with Your Spirit to do Your work. Fill us afresh today that we might be Your witnesses in all the earth we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
