Habakkuk 1:5 (ESV): ““Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.”
God is always working behind the scenes in every scenario to accomplish His purposes. He uses everything for His own ends (Prov. 16:4), so trust Him in your blind spots.
Habakkuk was a prophet in Judah right before the Babylonians overtook Assyria and Judah. His message was simple: to declare how God can use wicked nations, such as Babylon, to accomplish His purposes. Habakkuk—nor anyone else, for that matter—could see how God was going to deal with the Assyrians. They witnessed the wickedness of this nation while wondering why God had not acted yet. The Lord promised Habakkuk that He was at work in ways that, even if He told him, he would not believe it.
Are you wondering how long God is going to allow the wicked around you to prosper? He is always at work behind the scenes, so if He is allowing it, there is a plan in place. We don’t need to know the plan. We must trust His sovereign will and rest in Him while we wait. He is up to far greater things than you could imagine, so wait and watch. He will blow your mind. Amen?
Father, we thank You that You are a God who sees and who acts. You are not falling down on the job. Accomplish Your will in our lives and help us to trust You even when we cannot see what You are doing. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
