Isaiah 56:8 (ESV): “The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, “I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered.”
God is the great Harvester of souls. From the fields of the world, He gathers a bountiful yield from every nation, tribe, and tongue. He is the Lord of the ingathering—and the harvest is far from over!
Isaiah writes to a people who had become inwardly focused. Israel had developed the mentality that salvation was for them—and them alone. They had lost sight of their calling to be a light to the nations. Yet God desired to use them to draw all peoples to Himself. He reiterates His love for every nation and prophetically speaks of the great harvest of Gentiles that is still to come.
Are you available to be a laborer in His harvest? Jesus Himself reminds us, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matt. 9:37). God is looking for men and women willing to go into the harvest field. He will send you to the right field—just be faithful to represent Him well!
Father, we thank You first and foremost for being in the harvest business. May we never forget our calling to make disciples. Send us into the harvest, we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
