Isaiah 61:1-2 (ESV) - “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;”
Jesus did everything He did through the power of the Holy Spirit. Every miracle, every word of life, every act of compassion—Spirit-empowered. And here’s the stunning reality: that same Spirit lives in us. We are not powerless. We lack nothing to accomplish God’s will in our lives!
Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would come anointed by the Spirit to preach good news to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom to the captives, and open the prison doors for those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1). Jesus fulfilled that prophecy in full. He opened blind eyes, restored hearing, cast out demons, and raised the dead. Every one of those acts bore the marks of Isaiah’s prophecy—and Jesus did it all by the power of the Spirit.
Christian, do you realize the power that resides in you? This is not a personal power grab—it’s not about doing miracles on demand. It’s about submission. Just as Jesus operated in full surrender to the Father’s will, we are called to yield our lives to Him. And when we do, the Spirit moves. He leads. He empowers. He uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary kingdom work. So walk in the Spirit. Stay surrendered. He is more than enough.
Father, thank You for saving us and setting us free. We are products of Your Son’s victory and vessels of Your Spirit’s power. Fill us, lead us, and use us to accomplish Your will. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
