Isaiah 65:17-18 (ESV): “17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy, and her people to be a gladness.”
There’s a day coming when God is going to hit the cosmic reset button. He’s not just going to patch up what’s broken—He’s going to make everything brand new. A new heaven. A new earth. A new Jerusalem. And here’s the best part: the pain, the loss, the regret—all the baggage of this life—won’t even come to mind. It’ll be like it never happened.
Isaiah is giving us a prophetic sneak peek into the eternal state—the final chapter after the Millennial Kingdom when everything broken by sin is fully and forever undone. Peter picks up on this promise in 2 Peter 3:13, saying, “But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” And John, in Revelation 21:1–2, writes, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” This is the future God has planned for His people—joy that doesn’t fade, peace that can’t be shaken, and a world where righteousness isn’t the exception, it’s the rule.
Are you living with eternity in view? Or are you so weighed down by the temporary that you’ve forgotten the eternal? Lift your eyes. This world is not our home—we’re just passing through. And what God has in store is beyond anything we can dream. Be glad. Rejoice. The best is yet to come.
Father, thank You for revealing the future to us. May we set our minds on things above and live for Your eternal Kingdom we pray in Jesus name, amen.
